Relationship intelligence ยท Tips guide
The most common Happenstance mistakes are reading an empty list as no match, assuming an intro request has gone out, and paying monthly in the app. Each one has a fix that takes a few minutes, and the reasons are in the company's own pages. [8] [2]
Add Omnitwine as a preferred source on Google| Mistake | What to do instead | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Reading an empty list as no match | Check your connections are uploaded | A real match can look like no match[8] |
| Assuming the intro went out | Send the draft through the mutual connection | The product drafts but does not send[8] |
| Buying Pro monthly in the app | Buy yearly on the web | $359.88 a year monthly in the app against $288 on the web[2] [1] |
| Connecting every source at once | Start with Gmail, Calendar and Contacts | Outlook and some other sources are not described in the policy[3] |
| Letting a renewal roll over | Set a reminder for the renewal date | The current period is not refunded[4] |
Most of these mistakes come from taking a screen at face value. An empty list, a drafted intro and a monthly charge each look finished when they are not. The table gives the fix for each, and the sections below cover the tips for each type of user. [8] [2] [1] [3] [4]
Search your own network before you cold-message anyone. A search returns named people with mutual connections and a route to each, and a named mutual contact gives you someone to ask. Use the free plan to test a few targets before you pay $24 a month on the web. [9] [1]
Ask the mutual connection a specific question, with the draft attached. The company's referral guide advises asking one team about one role at a time, naming the company and sending a block the contact can forward as it is. The draft saves the writing, not the ask. [11]
Turn off the public-profile default before your first group. A public profile shows named connections unless you change the setting, and groups pool your network into one searchable place. The setting is your protection, not a feature. [5] [6]
Decide which groups you join by who you trust to search them. Visibility is limited to you, accepted friends and joined groups, so anything you pool into a group is visible to its members. [5]
Keep your CRM or applicant tracker alongside Happenstance. The company's comparison pages list no CRM import, no ATS integration and no outreach sequences, so a candidate you find here will need to be entered by hand. [7]
Read credits as decimals. Credit fields became decimals on 14 October 2026, so a client that parses whole numbers will break. The API also gained Chat on 23 October 2026. [10]
Keep parallel requests below ten. The create-search page says a 429 error appears at ten or more requests running at once, and the introduction page describes the limit as requests in an hour or a short burst. Make a few test calls to find out which one applies to you. [9] [8]
