Why people look past Happenstance

Happenstance searches the network you bring it: connected accounts, friends, groups and the public web. Its own comparison pages say it has no CRM import, no ATS integration and no outreach sequences, and that results cover only connected people. If you need a pipeline or a sending tool, look elsewhere first. [2] [3]

The other reason is price shape. Happenstance Pro is $24 a month on the web, and its Team plan bills $24 per seat as well. Juicebox and Sales Navigator also bill per seat, so a three-person team pays three seat prices on any of them. Count the seats before you compare the headline figure. [1] [6] [8]

Juicebox: seat pricing for outbound search

Juicebox is the closest rival on price, and it sells per seat. Its Starter plan is $119 a month or $99 a month billed yearly, and Growth is $199 a month or $179 a month billed yearly. Its free tier has limited searches and 5 one-off contact credits. The company's own page does not label billing periods clearly, so confirm which one you are buying at checkout. [6]

Pick Juicebox if your job is finding people outside your own network, one seat at a time. Pick Happenstance if the people you need are already in your inbox, calendar or LinkedIn export. [2]

The Swarm: priced per company, with a yearly figure to check

The Swarm's free plan covers up to 10 connectors, with no API. Its Premium plan is $99 per company a month and includes 50 connectors and 12,000 API credits. The yearly Premium price is $2,990 per company. That is $1,802 more than twelve monthly payments of $99 ($1,188), even though the page labels yearly as saving 20%. Pay monthly until someone explains the yearly figure. [7]

LinkedIn Sales Navigator: LinkedIn's own search, per seat

Sales Navigator Core is $119.99 a month or $1,079.88 a year, which is $89.99 a month. Advanced is $159.99 a month or $1,799.88 a year. Prices may exclude taxes, and other currencies differ. Pay for it when LinkedIn is where your prospects live and you want LinkedIn's own filters. [8]

Happenstance covers a wider set of sources, but it reads LinkedIn only through a data export you upload, and LinkedIn search only covers people who accepted a connection request. Use Sales Navigator for LinkedIn search; use Happenstance for the paths across all of your sources. [4] [5]

Lean Intros: free, but you host it

Lean Intros is an open-source tool under the MIT licence. It uploads a LinkedIn connections CSV and stores its data in a self-hosted SQLite database. It costs nothing to download, but running it is your job, so it suits a developer or an operator who can host a small app. [9]

Its README says Happenstance, The Swarm and Connect The Dots each charge $5,000 to $20,000 a year. That figure has no source and does not match Happenstance's $24 a month, so ignore it. [9] [1]

Omnitwine: free, for a hire with no warm path

Omnitwine is free and takes no cut. You tell its AI the hire you need, and it suggests members who fit, each with a reason. Both people decide whether to connect, and then you deal directly. [10] [11]

It is not a search of your own inbox or contacts, and it is not a job board, marketplace or payment service. It does not verify identity or skills. The network is young, so who you meet depends on who has joined. Every member's name, email and LinkedIn is visible to other signed-in members before any connection. [10] [12]

How to choose

Start from the people you already know. Happenstance on the free plan is enough to test that, and Pro is $24 a month on the web if you search most weeks. [1]

Start from a list of companies or prospects. Juicebox or The Swarm, but price them per seat or per company before you sign, and check whether a yearly plan really saves money. [6] [7]

Start from LinkedIn itself. Sales Navigator, at $89.99 a month billed yearly for Core. [8]

Start from a specific hire you cannot reach through your contacts. Omnitwine is free and takes no cut, and its AI suggests members who fit, each with a reason. Check the network before you rely on it, because it is young. [11] [12]
