Lunchclub Privacy Summary

Lunchclub's privacy policy, dated 1 January 2017, says the service reads your Google calendar by default and gives no period for keeping data after you close an account. The App Store privacy label lists fewer data types than the policy does. If you still have an account, decide what to share before you connect anything. [1] [2]

The one thing to know: the policy predates the product

Lunchclub appears to be retired. Its latest App Store release is dated 3 Mar 2022, and the status page lists the dated signals behind that verdict. The policy described below may not reflect how the service runs now, and this page is kept for reference. [2] [5] [6]

The privacy policy is effective 1 January 2017. It predates the 2020 app and the 2022 release, so treat it as the only written promise on your data, and expect it to describe the service as it was designed, not as it ran in its last months. [1] [2]

Calendar access is on by default, and contacts need your permission

The policy says the service reads calendar data from a connected Google account by default, so it can connect people. It accesses contacts only with permission. Location is collected only while the mobile app is in use. [1]

The App Store privacy label lists fewer data types than the policy does, so the label alone understates what is collected. The policy says data is not rented or sold to third parties without consent, with exceptions for a sale or transfer of the service, legal requests and security. It also says data may be stored in the United States or any other country. [2] [1]

The policy sets no time limit on data after you leave

The policy says data may be kept for a "commercially reasonable time" after an account closes, and it names backup, archival and audit use as reasons for keeping it. It gives no period. [1]

The policy names one route for deletion: a request to support@lunchclub.ai. It gives no steps and no response time. Reviews from 2023 onward describe slow or no replies to support, so expect the request to take time. [1] [3] [4]

How to delete your data in three steps

The policy publishes no deletion steps, so these are the steps that give you a record: [1]

  1. Send the deletion request from the email address on your account to support@lunchclub.ai.
  2. Keep a copy of the request, with its date.
  3. Ask in writing for confirmation that your data has been deleted, and keep that reply.

Verdict: decide what to share before you connect anything

Do not give contact access, or share calendar details, for a service that appears to be retired. If you still have an account you no longer use, send the deletion request now, because the policy sets no time limit on what is kept after closure. For a working option, see the alternatives page.
