Lunchclub appears to be retired. Missed calls were the main complaint from 2020 to 2023 (5 of 25 user reports), and later complaints are about support and getting in. The newest dated user report is from February 2024, and no shutdown notice is among the cited sources. [2] [3] [6]

Lunchclub appears to be retired. Its latest App Store release is dated 3 Mar 2022, and the status page lists the dated signals behind that verdict. Most complaints below date from 2020 to 2024, and this page is kept for reference. [1] [7] [6]
Between 2020 and 2023 the common complaint was a match who did not turn up. From 2023 on, the complaints are about support replies, matching you cannot control, and one sign-in failure. The App Store's last release is version 2.3.8, dated 3 Mar 2022, and Fortune reported in November 2025 that the founders moved into Lighter without saying whether this service stopped. [1] [7]
The lunchclub.ai address redirects to lunchclub.com, which loads only a title with no product text. The company's own status is therefore not visible from its site, and the dated signals on the status page are the best guide. [6]
Five of the 25 user reports describe a match who did not show or cancelled late, all from 2020 to 2023. A 2020 Blind post described a match who stopped responding after a confirmed time and cancelled about 15 minutes before the call, with no reason. A 2020 blog author's match asked to reschedule twice and then never came. A January 2023 Hacker News comment said that after a strong few weeks, many people cancelled at the last minute or did not turn up. [9] [8] [10] [3] [2]
What to do: Treat each booked call as tentative until it starts, and confirm the time on the day. Do not plan work around a call until the other person has joined.
One of the 25 user reports describes being unable to pass the login screen after repeated code requests, in February 2023. Apple's release notes list a log-in fix in version 2.3.2 (28 Oct 2021) and a Google account connection fix in version 2.3.4 (8 Nov 2021), so the problem was reported after those fixes. [2] [1]
What to do: Try to sign in before you invest time in the service. If the code never arrives, stop there.
Three of the 25 user reports say support did not reply or was slow. A 2023 App Store reviewer said many lunches were no-shows and support did not reply. A July 2023 Trustpilot reviewer, the only one-star review on the profile, called email support slow and the video platform unreliable. A Product Hunt reviewer dated only as about two years ago said support did not reply. [2] [3] [4]
What to do: Put every problem in writing to the support address in the privacy policy, and note the date. The policy gives no response time, so do not count on support to recover a booked call or a locked account. [5]
Three of the 25 user reports describe matching you cannot control. All three are Product Hunt reviews dated only as relative ages. Two say the location filter was removed, and one says members cannot choose matches by field or by person. [4]
What to do: Describe what you want in your profile, and treat each match as a draw rather than a shortlist. If you need a named field or a specific person, look at the alternatives page.
One of the 25 user reports describes recurring meetings an 18-month member did not know they had joined. Pausing did not stop new matches, and the member deleted the app. A separate reviewer's account was closed two days after sign-up, in December 2022, because matching found nothing relevant. [2]
What to do: Delete the account rather than pausing it, because one member found pausing did not stop new matches. Send the deletion request to the support address in the privacy policy and keep the date, since the policy gives no deletion steps or time limit. [5]
