Why people look beyond ADPList

Three gaps push people toward alternatives: a refund rule for a paid session, a published price before booking, and a plan that lasts longer than one call. ADPList publishes no refund rule for paid sessions and no price range, so the alternatives below compete mainly on those two points. [3] [1]

ADPList’s own comparison guide also names other platforms. It lists free options such as MicroMentor, SCORE and OpenMentor, and paid ones such as Clarity.fm, which charges per minute, and Topmate. This page does not price them. [7]

MentorCruise: a markup on the mentor’s plan

MentorCruise is the closest rival on paid mentors. The mentee pays the mentor’s plan plus about 20%, with a $20 minimum, so a $100 plan costs $120. One-off sessions are a flat fee of $9 to $39, according to ADPList’s guide. [4]

Its refund rule is clearer than ADPList’s. A one-off session cancelled 24 or more hours ahead is refunded; a session cancelled inside 24 hours is not, and a completed session can’t be cancelled. Choose MentorCruise if you need that written rule and can accept the markup. [4]

GrowthMentor: a monthly plan with a 14-day refund window

GrowthMentor costs $75 a month, or $675 a year. The annual plan saves $225, which is 25% less than twelve monthly payments. It has no free trial, so the first money you pay is the first month. [5]

You can ask for a refund within 14 days of your first call. That is the closest thing to a trial. If you want a single session, it is more than you need; if you want a steady plan for several months, it is the easier one to justify.

GMI: free for students and recent graduates, if you qualify

GMI offers 10 one-hour virtual sessions free to eligible students and recent graduates. ADPList’s comparison guide says eligibility depends on age, first-generation or financial aid status, and a recent degree, and that matching takes two to three weeks. If you qualify, it beats any paid option on price. If you don’t, it is not an option. [6]

Omnitwine: a free way to find a mentor to ask

Omnitwine isn’t a mentorship platform, a marketplace or a payment service. You tell its AI you want a mentor, and it suggests members who fit, each with a reason it suits both of you. Signed-in members can also browse its member directory, which lists every member's name, email and LinkedIn. Both people decide whether to connect, and you deal directly with no cut. Its Terms describe the service as free to use. [8] [9] [10]

It does not sell sessions, run them, hold payment or check anyone’s credentials. Who you find depends on who has joined, because the network is young. If you need a mentor’s hour, ADPList is the closer fit. [8]

How to choose

For one free question, start with ADPList and book the first free slot you can get. If you need a monthly plan, compare GrowthMentor’s 14-day refund window with the cost of a year. If you are a student or a recent graduate, check GMI’s eligibility first. And if the hard part is finding a mentor to contact rather than booking a call, try Omnitwine.
