Trustpilot gives Contra 1.9 out of 5 from 68 reviews, with 63% one-star, and the score has fallen since August 2026. G2 and Contra’s own page show far higher scores from smaller or company-hosted samples, so the complaints on Trustpilot are the better guide to what goes wrong. [1] [4] [5] [7]

Each row gives the figures as they stood on the date shown, and what that sample measures. [1] [3] [4] [5] [6] [7]
The score is falling. Toolradar’s 19 August check of Trustpilot gave 2.6, Fastlancer’s 27 October check gave 2.1, and Trustpilot showed 1.9 on 4 November. Each sample is self-selected, so the direction matters more than any single figure. Contra says it replied to 96% of negative Trustpilot reviews, usually within a week. A reply does not show the problem was fixed. [1] [3] [4]
Trustpilot collects reviews from anyone who signs up, and people who had a problem are more likely to post. G2 is a software directory with a small sample of 21 reviews. Contra’s own page only shows reviews Contra hosts, so it proves nothing about independent experience. Read the Trustpilot complaints for what goes wrong, and read G2 and Product Hunt only as signs that some users are happy. [1] [5] [6] [7]
Happy reviews cluster in 2025. Five-star reviewers praise zero commission, responsive support and fast withdrawals. More than ten of them were posted between 8 and 22 April 2025, a short window that makes that praise hard to read as a steady picture. [2]
Four or more Trustpilot reviews from April and May 2025 say the client-facing tools save time: contracts, invoicing and payments. Those are older than most of the current complaints, so the picture has shifted since then. [2]
Payouts and verification come up most often in the newest reviews. Five of the 12 newest Trustpilot reviews (9 July to 29 October 2026) concern payouts or identity checks. That is a small, self-selected sample, so it shows what people complain about, not how often a payout fails. [1]
| Problem | Who it hits | How often (sample and dates) | How bad it gets |
|---|---|---|---|
| Payouts held or stalled | Freelancers | 4 of the 20 reviews on Trustpilot’s first page, 24 Aug to 3 Nov 2026 | Some report funds held for weeks; Contra’s target is 24 hours and the Terms set no maximum |
| Verification failures | Freelancers | 6 of 68 Trustpilot reviews, July 2025 to October 2026 | Blurry-photo rejections, documents they could not meet, a payment held pending verification |
| Account suspended without explanation | Freelancers | 2 or 3 of 68 Trustpilot reviews, February to September 2026 | Permanent ban after messaging freelancers, per one review; Contra’s replies cite security |
| Support automated or unresponsive | Both | 4 of 68 Trustpilot reviews, plus two blogs, June 2025 to September 2026 | Replies described as AI-only; invoicing questions unanswered for months |
| Dispute not resolved | Freelancers | 1 detailed Trustpilot review (25 Aug 2026) | Freelancer delivered work, client got a refund, freelancer received nothing |
| Thin job board | Freelancers | Six sites, June to October 2026; none publishes a listing count | One reviewer counted a few hundred open listings [1] [2] [3] [9] [10] [11] [12] [4] [13] [14] |
The G2 figure, 4.9 from 21 reviews, is as Toolradar reported it in August 2026. Contra’s 5.0 comes from 252 reviews that Contra hosts. Product Hunt’s 4.5 may include reviewers with a product badge, which can mean affiliation, and one reviewer alleges fake positive reviews on that site. Remote100K’s favourable review carries promotional banners and sells alternatives, so it is a weak guide to quality. [5] [7] [6] [8]
Sort the Trustpilot reviews by date and read the two most recent pages first. If the payout and verification complaints still appear there, plan for a delay before your first withdrawal. Then check how many reviews mention a specific problem, not just the star count, and look for a reply from the company. [1] [13]
