Freelance services marketplace ยท Complaints guide
Most Fiverr complaints now concern access to money: suspended accounts, earnings held for months, and orders paid for but not delivered. Cancel through the order page, never pay outside Fiverr, and keep records before a restriction starts. [1] [3] [6]
Add Omnitwine as a preferred source on Google| Complaint | Who it hits | What usually happens next | What helps |
|---|---|---|---|
| Account suspended or banned | Sellers | Canned appeal replies, often no explanation | Appeal within six months; withdraw what you can within 60 days[6] [2] |
| Earnings held | Sellers | 150 to 400 days without access in the worst cases | Keep records of every order; escalate in writing[2] [3] |
| Paid, nothing delivered | Buyers | Refund refused or unanswered in several cases | Cancel through the order page before the order completes[1] [8] |
| Paid outside Fiverr | Buyers | Money gone, no platform help | Never move payment off Fiverr[5] |
| Stuck in verification | Both | Still locked after ID approval | Update your phone number before verifying[2] [9] |
| Support doesn't help | Both | Template replies, tickets open 4 to 10 days | Reply to Fiverr's public response on Trustpilot to get a ticket moving[1] |
The one-star reviews are dominated by things that cut people off from their money: locked accounts, held earnings and orders paid for but never delivered. The Better Business Bureau logged 563 complaints about Fiverr in three years, 220 of them in the past twelve months. On ComplaintsBoard, 7 of 82 complaints are marked resolved. [3] [4]
Suspension is the most common complaint from sellers, about 11 of 56 recent one-star reviewers. Many say they got no reason and no real review, only template replies. Fiverr's rules give you 60 days after a restriction to keep messaging clients and withdraw your money before the account is suspended, and six months to appeal. [2] [6]
The worst outcome is money you can't reach. Six or seven sellers across four complaint sites describe earnings held for 150 to 400 days, one with about $13,000 frozen in 2023. Fiverr's replies cite "suspicious activity" and give no detail. [2] [3] [4]
What to do: withdraw earnings regularly rather than letting them build up, keep every conversation inside Fiverr, and screenshot your order history. If you're restricted, move your money out within the 60 days first, then appeal. [6]
About 12 of 56 recent one-star reviewers paid and got nothing, including one buyer whose $2,700 website was never delivered. The single most expensive mistake is paying outside Fiverr: one buyer sent $1,000 over WhatsApp and the freelancer stopped replying. Off the platform, Fiverr can't help you. [1] [5]
Quality complaints still turn up, especially on bigger jobs, and extras are charged one by one. [1]
What to do: cancel through the order page while the order is still open. Once it auto-completes, three days after delivery, you have far less leverage. Don't open a bank chargeback after delivery unless you've given up on Fiverr: it can get the seller's account disabled. [8] [7]
About eight reviewers describe failing phone or ID checks and being unable to reach a person, some still locked after their ID was approved. A common cause is verifying with an old phone number. [2] [9]
What to do: update your number before you start, because getting help after a failed check is slow. [2]
About 25 of 60 recent one-star reviews describe support as unreachable or sending template replies, with tickets reportedly sitting for 4 to 10 days. Fiverr is much faster in public: it answered 18 of 20 one-star reviews on Trustpilot's first page, usually within a week, and asked the writer to open a ticket. [1]
What to do: if a private ticket stalls, a public review is often the quickest way to get a person to look at your case. [1]
