Peerlist Privacy Summary

Peerlist's profile fields are public by default, its identity check keeps only the verification status, and its analytics link logged-in pages to your user ID. The policy gives no retention period for most data and no access or correction rights. [1] [2]

The one thing to know: your profile is public by default

Peerlist makes several profile fields public unless you change them. Name, bio, picture, tools, public GitHub repos, Medium articles, Dribbble shots, work, education, certifications and community work all start public. [1]

Contact details are the exception. They stay hidden until you turn them on in Settings, under Privacy and then Contact info. Recruiters get your details only when you apply to a job they posted. [1]

Identity checks: Peerlist keeps the result, and Stripe handles the ID data

The identity check runs through Stripe, which collects ID images, facial images, ID numbers, addresses and device data to match the face to the ID. Peerlist says it stores only the verification status, not ID copies or biometric data. [2] [1]

Stripe deletes biometric identifiers within a year if you consented only to verification and fraud use. The privacy policy also lets you allow Stripe to use your data to improve biometric technology, so check that choice before you agree. [2] [1]

Tracking links logged-in pages to your ID

Google Analytics and PostHog track the pages logged-in users view and link them to the Peerlist user ID. If you opt out, some features can break. The opt-out routes are the Google Analytics add-on, refusing cookies, and cookie alerts. [1]

The gaps: no access rights, and a split on governing law

The policy lists no right to access, correct or port your data. You can opt out of digests and notifications, control contact visibility and withdraw cookie consent, but transactional emails cannot be turned off unless you delete the account. [1]

The privacy policy names U.S. law and Delaware courts, while the Terms of Service name Indian law and Pune courts. Ask Peerlist which applies before a dispute, not after one. [1] [3]

How to delete your account

  1. Open Settings, choose Account, and request deletion. If you can't find the option, email support from the address registered to the account.
  2. Expect residual copies to be kept "for a brief time period," because the policy gives no length.
  3. If you verified your identity, expect deletion requests for verification data to be honoured within 72 hours. [1] [2]

The verdict: ordinary basics, with gaps to ask about

Peerlist's basics are ordinary for a profile network: contact details are off by default, identity checks keep only the result, and the company says it does not sell personal data. The gaps are the public defaults, the analytics linked to your ID, and the missing rights to access your data. Review your fields and ask support those questions before you verify. [1] [2]
