Trustpilot's 3.9 is fair, but the recent picture is thin
Trustpilot shows Wellfound at 3.9 from 144 reviews. Only six of those were posted in the last 12 months, so the rating mostly reflects older reviews. Trustpilot also says the company has not recently invited reviews, so the people who post are a self-selected group, not a survey of users. [1]
Happy reviewers got interviews, and they praise the listings
Several reviewers, from January 2024 to June 2025, describe an interview, an internship or a hire after applying. Two of them were hires. They praise the startup listings, the filters and the recent roles. [5] [2]
Recent reviews range from praise to complaints, and most do not say whether the reviewer is a job seeker or an employer. The praise therefore cannot be split by role (June 2025 to March 2026). [2]
A Hacker News commenter wrote in 2022 that the platform made “really good hires” from few leads, and a founder in March 2026 reports finding real candidates for a full-stack role. Two accounts are not a pattern, but they show that hiring does happen. [6] [2]

Silence recurs from 2024 to 2026. Account restrictions are the most serious, because Wellfound's General Terms let it suspend or end access without notice and refuse registration for any reason, and the terms describe no appeal process. [7] [2]
Don't take the 3.9 at face value
Trustpilot's profile says the company has not replied to negative reviews, yet some 2025 reviews carry company replies. Most of those replies point people to talent support or email rather than solving the case in public. [1] [2]
How to read these reviews before you apply
Filter by your role. A reviewer who hired through Wellfound tells you little about how job seekers fare, and the reverse is also true. [5]
Read the last 12 months first. Six reviews in that window is a small sample, so one bad month can change how the page looks. Compare the dates on each complaint, and check whether it describes a problem that has since been fixed. [2]
