AI-agent search is useful for a first shortlist
Two MIT-licensed repositories let an AI assistant search MentorCruise's mentor directory. The skills version asks two or three questions and returns up to three matches. The plugin is a server that AI tools call directly. Search needs no account or API key. [3] [1]
The plugin is a tool that Claude can call, and search needs no account. Booking and payment need a mentee account connected with an email code, entered in the browser. On Claude web and desktop, “Code execution and file creation” must be on first, and that setting lets Claude run code and create files in your session. Test the plugin first with no private files attached, and keep personal details out of your searches. [1]
The privacy side is thinner. The plugin hashes the caller's IP address for abuse prevention and sends requests only to MentorCruise endpoints, with no telemetry. It gives no retention period for that hash. The skills repo says top matches are enriched with information from the web, names no service, and has no privacy statement. [2] [4]
The company describes no match method. One 2024 mentee on Trustpilot says AI-based search led to a mentor who helped their career, but that is one person's report. Verdict: use the search to build a shortlist, and keep identifying details out of it until you know what the tool sends. [7]
Pause before you end
Pausing keeps your chat. It needs a resume day, and it isn't allowed if you already paused in the same billing cycle, if your trial hasn't passed, or if your latest payment is overdue. Ending closes the connection and the chat, and stops recurring payments at once. [5] [6]
The ending article does not say whether access runs to the end of the billing period, so ask before you end a mentorship you've already paid for. Verdict: pause when you need a break, and end only when you're finished. [6]
Credits and ratings are the open questions
The plugin README says mentees can pay “from credits,” but it gives no amounts, expiry or refund rules. Until those are published, treat credits as unknown and ask support before you buy any. [1]
Ratings and filters draw criticism in the Trustpilot reviews. A 2024 two-star reviewer says low ratings aren't published, filters are restrictive and schedules aren't visible before you pay. A November 2025 reviewer says ratings didn't appear on mentor pages. Use the trial to check availability and fit together. [7]
