XING Privacy Summary

Your XING profile is visible to other members, and Premium members can see who viewed it. Users report ID or photo requests when they delete, and emails that continue afterwards. The sources here do not say how long XING keeps data after deletion, so keep sensitive documents out of your profile and messages. [1] [4]

The one thing to know: Premium members see who looked at you

Basic members see that someone viewed their profile, but not who. Premium shows names and visit statistics, according to a 2018 guide and a 2026 Premium list from meetergo. If you are job hunting while still employed, that difference matters: on Basic you cannot see who looked, and on Premium you can. [1] [2]

Deleting your account is not a one-click exit

At least 4 reviewers from 2018 to 2025 describe deletion steps that asked for an ID card, a photo, a password or a support ticket. At least 5 people from 2019 to 2025 say emails kept arriving after deletion, with no confirmation. [4] [5]

Cancel paid add-ons before you delete, because deleting the profile does not end add-on billing. After Premium ends, the profile stays Basic until you delete it under Settings > Account. [7]

Unsubscribing is harder than it should be, and recruiter messages continue

At least 10 reviewers say unsubscribing needs a sign-in or a phone call. A January 2025 review raises a GDPR complaint over it, and a December 2025 review reports a phone-only opt-out. [5]

Recruiter messages also continue after opt-out, according to 2026 reviews, and one says the messages are AI-generated. [6]

Profiles created without consent, and an unconfirmed breach claim

A June 2025 review says a profile was created without consent and may be a GDPR breach. Others report accounts created on someone else's email address (at least 4 people, 2024 to 2026). No regulator decision on these reports is known. [5]

An April 2026 review holds XING responsible for a data leak. No breach notice or XING statement accompanies it, so treat it as one person's claim. [5]

AI and your data

Job-wish preferences feed AI recommendations, according to meetergo (October 2026), and TalentManager's AI recommendations work on the candidate profiles recruiters search. Keep salary details and private documents out of your profile for that reason. [2] [3]

How to delete your account

  1. Cancel Premium and any ProJobs add-on, then check that billing has stopped.
  2. Go to Settings > Account and delete the profile.
  3. If the process asks for an ID card, a photo, a password or a support ticket, ask for deletion in writing and keep a copy of the request.
  4. Check your inbox for a few weeks. If emails continue, write to XING and keep the copy. [7]

The verdict

For a professional network, XING's basics are standard: a profile you control, and a deletion route. The weak spots are the visitor list on Premium, deletion steps some users find heavy, and unsubscribing that often fails. Keep documents out of your profile and messages, and cancel before you delete.
