XING Alternatives

XING's free Basic tier covers job search, and its paid tiers are where the complaints are. LinkedIn, Indeed and StepStone each draw their own complaint pattern in recent reviews, so choose by the problem you need solved. [1]

Why people look beyond XING

Five reviewers left XING or deactivated their accounts in 2025, and two moved to another job board or LinkedIn. Their reasons were a thinner community and no reason left to pay. Other reviewers describe cancelling as “ten steps” with “no visible way to cancel,” so check how you would leave before you join anywhere. [4] [2]

LinkedIn: the same billing complaints, and four Premium plans

LinkedIn lists four Premium plans: Career, Business, All-in-One and Company Page. Its Trustpilot score is 1.1 out of 5 from 3,987 reviews, with 87% one-star. [5] [6]

Recent LinkedIn reviews from October and November 2026 describe Premium refunds refused after a free trial became an annual charge, failed ID checks, and support that is hard to reach. Subscription trouble is not unique to XING. Set a reminder the day you start any trial, whichever site you use. [6]

Indeed: free to search, but sponsored ads and page limits bite

Indeed reviews from September and October 2026 (German site) describe sponsored-ad charges above a daily budget, and an account requirement before you can see page two of results. Its Trustpilot score is 1.8 out of 5 from 13,092 reviews. [7]

Use Indeed to browse listings, and avoid sponsored ads unless you have set a daily cap you can live with.

StepStone: old listings and renewals employers did not expect

StepStone reviews from October and November 2026 cite old listings and AI suggestions that do not fit. Several employers describe automatic contract renewals, which matters if you recruit as well as job-hunt. Its Trustpilot score is 2.0 out of 5 from 496 reviews. [8]

Jobware: too small a sample to judge

Jobware has a 2.0 Trustpilot score from 13 reviews (March 2025), and one former XING member found mostly irrelevant results there. Thirteen reviews cannot show how the site performs for most people. [9]

Omnitwine: connect for a job, for free

Omnitwine is not a job board. Tell its AI that you want a job, and it builds a profile from your conversations with it. It connects you with members on the other side who fit, each with a reason it suits both of you, and signed-in members can also browse its member directory, which lists every member's name, email and LinkedIn. Both of you decide whether to connect, and you deal directly, with no fee. [10] [11] [13] [12]

It does not sell jobs, hold payment, or verify identity or skills. Every member's name, email and LinkedIn is visible to other signed-in members before any connection, so share only what you're comfortable with. If you're worried about payment, we recommend using an escrow service. [12] [11]

How to choose

If you want job listings on a free profile, start with XING Basic and compare the same listings on Indeed and StepStone. If you are paying for a subscription you are unsure about, cancel it before you compare anything else. And if you want a job through a person rather than a listing, tell Omnitwine's AI so.
